USAA Insurance has been offering financial planning products and services to members and family of members of the US Armed Forces since 1922. The history of the USAA Insurance company started with 25 Army soldiers. When no one would give the soldiers insurance coverage for their automobiles they decided to insure each other and the plan stuck. Services provided by USAA Insurance include banking, investments, retirement and insurance for auto, home and life.

About a USAA Insurance Plan

The insurance premiums you pay to USAA Insurance are based on the individual policy. Most insurance companies offer a set premium for six to 12 months, for standard insurance policies like auto and home. These premiums can be broken into payments ranging from monthly to semi-annually. Other policies like long-term life insurance and health insurance may offer monthly premium payments that are on-going without a set total premium that renews (as is the case with automobile insurance).

  1. USAA really protects their insured – especially if the insured does not have enough coverage to take care of the damages they caused! Very difficult to deal with.

  2. I was a passenger in a auto that was struck from behind in Ocala Fl. By one of your insured in April of 2015. I understand that USAA is liable for a remaining 20% of my hospital bills plus some ongoing cost of braces, Dr visit, and prescriptions. Spoke with adjuster in and e-mailed medical release and was told that in approximately 2 weeks would be contacted about settlement. As of 2/11/2016 I’ve heard from no one. I can’t even get a return call. Respectfully upset

  3. My truck was struck from behind on April 29th by one of your insured and when I reported a claim I was given a adjusters name and extension but I have called several times about update and no one has returned my calls.

  4. I AM READING YOU ALL COMMENTS AND I WAS JUST HIT YESTERDAY 8-8-2016 BY A USAA CUSTOMER AND ALSO GIVEN A CLAIMS PHONE NUMBER TO WITH AN EXTENSION AND STATED THEY WERE SENDING ME A EMAIL ALL LIES. I ALSO CALL CLAIM ADJUSTER NUMBER TODAY NO ANSWER. GET THIS NEVER PROVIDED ME WITH A CLAIM NUMBER ON THE FIRST CALL. I EMAIL PICTURES ABOUT THE ACCIDENT BUT IF I DONOT HEAR FROM THEM WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK I HAVE A EXCELLENT LAWYER

  5. It is October 5, 2016 our car was hit by one of this companies insureds hit our car on September 28, 2016 and
NOT A THING HAS BEEN DONE.
It is clear that there insured was at fault as seen in police report and the witness that gave statement to police officer.

  6. I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to talk to USAA Adjuster regarding their client backing in to my car two weeks ago. I was given a Claim number and adjuster tel number from USAA from my Insurance Company – but USAA has yet to respond to my numerous calls/messages. Very frustrated as my car is wrecked and the drivers door is damaged to the point that I have to squeeze my body in to the car in order to drive.

  7. Been 3 weeks have not talked to the adjuster tells me on a voice mail they need to talk to the witness.
Police report says the insured by USAA soldier from FT.Campbell pulled out in front of me on US 41 A.
Sent the pictures and have heard nothing.
Totalled my car caused me to lose my job as no transportation and don’t respond to anything.
    This veteran is getting irritated.
Don’t have time to put up with your companies bullcrap.
Tired of having no electricity, food and having walk on a tn lane state road with no sidewalks.
So I suggest you all pull your heads out of that. 4 pointed contact and do what is right.

  8. They are suppose to get with me today concerning my bills and the claim. And I never get to talk to the adjuster by the name of Tamara Phiefier.

  9. Was hit from the rear by one of USAA insured on 1/26/18. I don’t have time to take car in for estimates due to prior engagement. Own car NO liens ask to get settlement check in my name USAA seems to have a problem with that. How hard is it for USAA to send adjuster to my home and write an estimates that is what my other insurance company did. The whole process going to the dr. appointments, taking car in to get estimate, calling pick up loaner car, go back and pick up car from shop and then return loaner car is toooo much of an inconvience for us right now why should we have to change our schedule the accident was not our FAULT.

  10. I was hit from behind by one of the USAA insured parties 1/2/12018, it is presently 8/13/2018 and I am still going thru this nightmare with this company, they have not paid my ER bill and they put you on hold for almost a day! I thank God that they are not my insurance company.

  11. I was recently involved in a traffic accident in Southern CA. The driver of the car that started this multiple car accident was named in the police report as causing the accident. In the mean time my insurance company paid for the repairs on my vehicle and I had to pay a 1000.00 dollar deductible to get my car back. I know Nationwide my insurance company is seeking that money back from USAA that they paid to fix my vehicle. I would think I’m entitled to a refund for the 1000.00 dollar deductible I had to pay but I’m not sure how to apply for it can anyone help.

  12. I had file a claim for water damage in basement
early 2/2019. resulting in damage to my furnace and
water heater. I have submitted all documents
by emailing and faxing them. I plan to send the same
documents registered mail. when I do get a call a message is left indicating heater damage only makes me
think they didn’t receive all my papers etc. playing
    phone tag……………….

  13. Member No.: 56-36-00. I want to file a claim on my Personal Property Insurance (VPP)for a damaged 19-inch Magnavox TV. It was damaged during an electrical storm power surge.

  14. My neice and I were hit my one of USAA’s insured’s in August 2019 while their insured was playing with her dog while driving. I can not get a adjustor to return a phone or a manager. We just want to be done with this claim and they refuse to answer a call. I’m very disappointed in the customer service especially one that is oriented around the military. Sad!
